The PDQ cancer information summaries are reviewed regularly and updated as new information becomes available. This section describes the latest changes made to this summary as of the date above.

Cellular Classification of Adult Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma

Added text about relapse in indolent follicular lymphomas, more aggressive histologies and subsequent changes in therapies, a retrospective review, reference to recommended treatment regimens for histologic conversions, and the short durability of the second remission (cited Tsimberidou et al. as reference 25, Montoto et al. as reference 26, Yuen et al. as reference 27, Bastion et al. as reference 28, and Williams et al. as reference 29).

Added Vijay et al as reference 31.

Added Dimopoulos et al. as reference 37.

Added Nakamura et al. as reference 66.

Added Tsai et al. as reference 70.

Added text about a small case series in which half of the ocular adnexal MALT patients had durable remissions after receiving doxyclycline therapy that targeted Chlamydia psittaci (cited Ferreri et al. as reference 81 and level of evidence 3iiiDiv).

Added Ponzoni et al. as reference 170.

Added text about the use of chemotherapy in the treatment of adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma and the low survival rates of patients in a small trial (cited Tsukasaki et al. as reference 194).

Indolent, Noncontiguous Stage II/III/IV Adult Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma

Added Gribben as reference 3.

Added text about three randomized trials that compared watchful waiting to immediate chemotherapy (cited Brice et al. as reference 4 and Longo as reference 5 and level of evidence 1iiA). Included an ongoing international study that is comparing watchful waiting to immediate rituximab with or without maintenance doses.

Added text about four randomized prospective studies of previously untreated patients and one Cochrane meta-analysis that included both untreated and previously treated patients in which rituximab plus combination chemotherapy was compared to chemotherapy alone (cited Herold et al. as reference 19, Hiddemann et al. as reference 20, Marcus et al. as reference 21, Salles et al. as reference 22, and Schulz et al. as reference 23 and level of evidence 1iiA). Also added results of a prospective randomized trial of R-CHOP or CHOP responders with relapsed follicular lymphoma who were further randomly assigned to rituximab maintenance or no maintenance (cited van Oers et al. as reference 24).

Added Rohatiner et al. as reference 60 and Gopal et al. as reference 61.

Indolent, Recurrent Adult Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma

Added text about a retrospective review of patients with indolent lymphoma whose risk of histologic transformation increased to 30% at 10 years (cited Montoto et al. as reference 31).
